American Political Science Association Awards Stony Brook Alumnae for Best Dissertation Political Science alumni, Dr. Erin Cassese, has been named the winner of the American Political Science Association (APSA) Political Psychology section's 2007 Best Dissertation Award for her dissertation “Culture Wars as Identity Politics”. Long Island philanthropists Erwin and Freddie Staller and their family recently established an endowed scholarship and fellowship fund established for graduate students in the Department of Music's Performance Program. The $1.7 million will begin funding students majoring in performance enrolling in the 2008 fall semester.
STONY BROOK , NY – Dr. Nancy Douzinas, president of the Rauch Foundation, was honored at the annual Stars of Stony Brook Gala on April 9 at Pier Sixty at Chelsea Piers in New York City . The Gala raised more than $1.8 million to fund scholarships for undergraduate students and other university initiatives.
Professor Trevor Sears from Stony Brook University 's Chemistry Department and the U.S. Department of Energy's Brookhaven National Laboratory has been elevated to the rank of Fellow in the Optical Society of America (OSA).
