

APPLICATION FOR GRADUATION
STEPS BEFORE APPLYING FOR GRADUATION
Check the Graduate School website for the current deadlines to file degree applications or to submit your thesis/dissertation. This information can be found here. Inform your Graduate Program Coordinator and Graduate Program Director that you are applying for graduation.
Make sure you are registered for the semester you plan to graduate. Students who intend to graduate in the Spring or Fall must register for at least one graduate credit. Students who will graduate in the Summer can register for zero credits, but it must still be a graduate level course.
CONFIRMATION E-MAIL
Once a student's degree application is processed in the system, an e-mail notification will be sent out. This will contain information on graduation and related procedures. You should expect to receive this e-mail notification about 1-2 weeks after you apply.
UPDATING YOUR INFORMATION
If you have already applied for graduation but wish to update or change your diploma name or diploma mailing address please do not apply for the degree again.Instead, e-mail Graduate_School_Graduation@notes.cc.sunysb.edu to update that information.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU DO NOT GRADUATE?
When you file for graduation you are blocked from registering for the following semester. If for any reason you do not graduate and find that you are unable to register for the next semester, please e-mail your program coordinator and Graduate_School_Graduation@notes.cc.sunysb.edu. If this is the case you will also need to apply for graduation again as degree applications do not carry forward.
